Alex Cheung

Alex Cheung is a dynamic figure in the global startup ecosystem, known for his commitment to cultivating innovation and empowering entrepreneurs. With a diverse background spanning entrepreneurship, mentorship, and community building, Alex has emerged as a prominent voice driving positive change in the startup landscape.

As the director for Venture Café in Cambridge, Alex understands the challenges and triumphs that come with building and scaling ventures. Venture Café acts as a sister non-profit organization to CIC, as an innovation ecosystem activator within the cities that they operate. Alex’s journey began when he interned for a startup that was showcasing at Venture Café. He was drawn to the innovation ecosystem and was fueled by the energy of new ideas. Early in his career, Alex managed all the sales and operations for CIC’s coworking space; he helped clients make their first sales and saw them from inception to acquisition. He then went on to help open MIT’s The Engine, a tough-tech accelerator. Following this, he traveled to Rotterdam and Tokyo to support the growth and expansion of CIC.

Furthermore, Alex is deeply involved in initiatives aimed at engineering serendipity when it comes to collaboration and networking within the startup community. Each Thursday, Venture Café in Cambridge welcomes over 400 people in-person to programs that aim to encourage individuals to learn, connect, and share with one another.

Alex is also on the Emerging Leaders Board of the Kendall Square Association–collaborating with other change-makers in the neighborhood to shape the future success of their global innovation hub. He continues to champion the startup ecosystem, leveraging his expertise and network to drive meaningful impact. His dedication to empowering entrepreneurs and fostering innovation has earned him recognition as a thought leader and key connector in the startup world.
